Prefer official, exact documentation
- Search the manufacturer first. Use its official support or document library when available.
- Match the entire model. Check suffixes, region, fuel, voltage, size, and revision.
- Open and inspect the document. Confirm the model appears inside the manual, not only on a search-result page.
- Save the source and date. This helps someone re-check for a newer revision later.

Keep more than the owner’s manual

Service manuals can contain hazardous procedures intended for trained technicians. Storing a document does not make a task suitable for an unqualified person.
Document smart-home transfer safely
Record the make, model, installed components, compatible app, and link to the manufacturer’s official ownership-transfer instructions. Before a move, remove the device from the former resident’s account, reset it as directed, revoke old access, and invite the recipient through the supported process.

Name files so they remain understandable
