Help, without the runaround

How can we help?

Start with the most common answers below. If something still feels unclear, write to us with the smallest amount of personal information needed.

Backup status does not look current

  1. Open Profile → Backup & recovery. Confirm the intended provider switch is on.
  2. Check the provider account. iCloud requires an active Apple Account and iCloud availability; Google Drive requires completing Google’s account and consent screen.
  3. Read the status details. Look for the last check, last attempt, last successful backup, and any provider message.
  4. Keep the app current. Install the latest operating-system and HouseManual updates available to your device.
  5. Create a manual archive if needed. A user-controlled export gives you a separate copy while provider access is being resolved.

Do not uninstall the app as a first troubleshooting step. Uninstalling can remove local data when no usable backup exists.

Google Drive opens the wrong place

Automatic Google Drive backup should open Google’s account and consent experience and use the app’s hidden backup area. The manual export action may open the operating system’s Files interface, where iCloud Drive or another installed provider can be selected. These are separate features.

If a Google Drive automatic-backup switch opens a generic file browser, record the app version and contact support; that behavior does not match the intended flow.

Manual, recall, and OCR results need verification

Check the exact model number and official source before acting on a discovered document or product-safety result. Rating-plate recognition can misread characters. HouseManual is an organizer, not a diagnostic, repair, or safety authority.

Contact support safely

Email support@house-manual.app. Never send a full home backup or handoff unless a support conversation establishes a specific need and a suitable secure transfer method. Support will never ask for an Apple, Google, device, alarm, Wi-Fi, or financial password.

Frequently asked

Quick answers.

How do I back up HouseManual?

Open Profile, then Backup & recovery. Enable iCloud backup or Google Drive backup and complete the provider permission flow. The status area shows the configured destination, last check, and last successful backup.

How do I create a PDF handoff?

Open the home’s handoff and export area, choose PDF, review the included records and attachments, remove private details, generate the document, and share it through the system share sheet.

How do I find a manual?

Open the relevant appliance or system, confirm its manufacturer and full model number, then use the manual discovery action or attach a verified document from the device.

Can HouseManual recover a file I already shared?

No. A shared PDF or package is controlled by the destination and recipient. HouseManual does not operate a remote-delete service for exported files.

What should I send with a support request?

Describe the screen, what you expected, what happened, device model, operating-system version, and app version. Do not email home exports, access codes, passwords, serial numbers, addresses, or private documents unless support specifically explains why they are needed.
