HouseManual has no advertisements or third-party behavioral trackers. Home records stay on the device by default. HouseManual does not operate a server that stores the core home database. Online features are optional or deliberately initiated, and exports leave the app only when the user shares or saves them.
1. Information stored on the device
HouseManual can store property details; control and shutoff locations; components, systems, appliances, finishes, utilities, contractors, tasks, notes, tags, warranties, smart-home details, manuals, photographs, documents, service history, and handoff records. App preferences, onboarding status, backup status, and a random non-advertising installation identifier may also be stored.
Records and attachments are held in the app’s private device storage. HouseManual does not add database-level encryption. Protection at rest depends on the device operating system, the app sandbox, and the user’s device passcode or lock settings.
2. Information that can leave the device
User-directed exports and sharing
When a user generates and shares a PDF, backup archive, transfer package, calendar file, or other export, the selected content goes to the destination the user chooses. A system document picker may offer iCloud Drive, Google Drive, local storage, or another installed provider. HouseManual does not control a file after it has been shared.
Automatic backup
If separately enabled, a complete rolling backup of non-demo home records and attachments may be copied to HouseManual’s private iCloud container or Google Drive’s hidden appDataFolder. Google authorization requests the limited drive.appdata scope and is not designed to read or modify normal Drive files. The cloud provider processes backups under its own terms, security, retention, and account settings.
Manual and transfer-instruction discovery
When a user opens a generated search or support link, the system browser sends the URL to the selected website. A generated manual search can contain manufacturer, model, item category, and language. It does not need the property address, owner notes, photos, attachments, or serial number.
Product-safety checks
After a user confirms the disclosure, a controlled equipment-category token can be sent to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission’s public SaferProducts.gov recall interface. Make-and-model filtering occurs on the device.
Rating-plate recognition
Text recognition of a selected rating-plate image occurs on the device. The temporary image is deleted after processing and is not sent to Google for recognition. Google ML Kit may receive limited SDK diagnostics such as app and device information, a per-install SDK identifier, interaction or performance data, configuration, and error diagnostics after the user sees the disclosure and chooses to scan.
Platform and calendar services
Apple or Google processes store transactions, sign-in, operating-system backups, and provider-authorized services under its own policy. If a user writes a maintenance event to a selected device calendar, its title, date, and note go to that calendar and may sync to the calendar provider. Operating-system crash reports may reach Apple or Google if the user enabled platform analytics sharing.
3. Website data
This website does not use advertising pixels, third-party analytics scripts, cross-site tracking cookies, or embedded social widgets. Cloudflare delivers the website and necessarily processes network and security information such as IP address, request metadata, and abuse signals under Cloudflare’s applicable privacy terms and retention controls. Following an email link opens the user’s email service; any message is processed by the sender’s and recipient’s providers.
4. No sale or targeted advertising
HouseManual does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not use an advertising identifier. No third-party advertising SDK is included in the app.
5. Permissions
Depending on the feature and platform, HouseManual may request camera or photo-library access, notifications, calendar access, Apple or Google authorization, and cloud-provider access. Permissions are requested in context and can be declined or changed through device or provider settings. Some features will not work without the corresponding permission.
6. Retention and deletion
Local data remains until the user deletes records, erases app data, or uninstalls the app, subject to operating-system backup behavior. User-created exports remain wherever the user saved or sent them. Provider backups remain subject to the provider’s controls and retention. Deleting HouseManual data cannot recall files already shared or automatically remove calendar events previously created in an external calendar.
Google Drive authorization can be turned off and revoked. iCloud access can be managed through Apple account and device settings. The app’s deletion controls describe what will be removed before confirmation.
7. Security
HouseManual uses platform app isolation, protected local storage APIs for security-sensitive preferences, least-privilege provider scopes, validated import and export formats, and user review before handoff. Optional passphrase protection may be available for manual backup archives. No system is perfectly secure; users should protect devices and cloud accounts, update software, and avoid recording secrets that do not need to live in a home manual.
8. Children
HouseManual is a general household organization product and is not directed to children under 13. Do not use it to record unnecessary information about children or household routines.
9. Regional privacy choices
HouseManual’s local-first architecture means the publisher generally does not possess the core home records needed to fulfill a server-side access request. 10. Changes
This policy may change as the apps and legal requirements evolve. Material changes will be presented through an appropriate notice, and the effective date above will be updated.
